Le Refuge du Laisonnay: Overview
A fantastic location.
Situated in the heart of the classified valley of Champagny-le-Haut, this family run hostel and restaurant has been a favorite meeting place for mountain lovers since 1963. Not far from the famous GR5 (Grande Randonnée N°5), ‘Le Laisonnay’ is the starting point of numerous walks from whose verdant paths you can admire or approach the snow-capped peaks of La Grande-Casse, La Grande-Motte, Bellecôte, Le Grand-Bec…
The location and the wide range of facilities makes the Refuge du Laisonnay easy to access for everybody. Whether you just want to go for a short afternoon walk or make a hiking-tour that last for several days, Le Laisonnay is the perfect starting point.
The opening dates are very different from a season to another. You should always check out by phone or read the news.
Traditional restaurant with terrace and bar

During the day, you can enjoy the refreshing sound of the foaming ‘doron’, and marvel at the rich and abundant local flora and fauna around you.
Relaxing on the soft alpine lawn terrace, whilst savoring traditional Savoyard dishes from the restaurant, you cannot help but be mesmerized by the ever changing veil of the Py waterfall.
Trough out the day, the bar serves cold and hot drinks, ice-cream and home-made specialties. If the weather conditions do not allow you to enjoy the out-door facilities, you are most welcome to come inside, to warm yourself by the wood fire in the heart of the refuge.
Since the village of Laisonnay does not have any electricity, the evening meals are served by candle light in the snug dining room. The warm and welcoming family atmosphere, together with the traditional Savoyard dished, is an ideal way to end your day.
Also a real refuge with dormitory
The refuge is of course a resting place for hikers that make long tours in the mountains. However, it is also a good place for those who would like to have a first experience of a stay-over in a real refuge with a relatively high level of comfort.
